Beyond Trends, Fall Take on Statement Necklaces

Although the trend for this year gears towards simple drop and medallion necklaces, statement necklaces are still classic choices. For Cayetano's Fall Collection, they have decided to mix-and-match by combining both the medallion necklaces and the statement and bib necklaces with which they are known for. For this season CLC plays with gold, red, orange, green, pink, brown with hints of yellow for their jewelry collection. Here are just some of the pieces that they have chosen among our proposed Fall designs. Head over to their website to view their Fall Collection, which also include earrings and wire art bangles made by other Filipino Women Artisans. Make your Fall more interesting by adding jewelry to your wardrobe, CLC shows us how as well.

How to Wear your Embellished Necklace

Most women are intimidated to wear statement embellished necklaces, wary that such costume jewelries are inappropriate to wear casually or to the office. Statement necklaces are often stereotyped as one worn by red carpet stars, glamor models, and fashion trend setters.  "Ordinary" women can appreciate the piece, but are seemingly hesitant to wear one. The key to wearing a statement piece is knowing which outfit to wear it with, in addition to an aura of CONFIDENCE. What truly brings out the beauty of an embellished necklace is to first visualize yourself wearing it effortlessly. Keep in mind that wearing pretty things such as a statement necklace is a pointless exercise if you don't feel pretty wearing it. The proper use of accessories should bring out the best in you.

Attending a strictly formal affair?  Forget the flashy all-beaded gowns; invest in one or two statement necklaces that you can wear with the basics when the party's done. Before buying, check your wardrobe: choose an embellished necklace that reflects your personality and unique sense of style. Do not make the mistake of buying whimsically; the piece must be in synergy with your overall wardrobe .

Here's to showing you how practical embellished necklaces tucked in your closet can be!

1. Wear it on a casual day

2. Wear it to the office with your basic corporate blouse

3. Wear it with your favorite LBD

 4. Wear it over your cocktail dress

Everyday Embellished Necklaces

Our "Awit ng Ibong Adarna" was a breakout from our usual large statement embellished necklaces. Before creating this piece, we used to make large embellished necklaces reserved for special occasions. A good friend and client suggested that we make the necklaces into a smaller one which can be used everyday.

We value our client's suggestions so we came out with these necklaces.

Unlike our regular chokers, the measurement of the felt cloth base for these necklaces is between 1"-1.5".  Even before releasing the designs online, our loyal clients purchased the first five designs and we still get many reorders for these pieces.

We then reviewed our past collections and chose designs which can be reduced to a smaller necklace without sacrificing the design patterns.

Our latest pieces "Clarissa" and "Corazon" followed the same principles of "Awit ng Ibong Adarna Collection". We used crystals, semi-precious stones and mother of pearls to attach each sewn pattern.

Her Name Was Amatullah

 Trapped in a barren land.
  One once an Empress.
  Now forsaken.
  Lifeless.

In my mind, Amatullah is my empress, a woman refusing to be stereotyped by the norm of what an empress must and should be; defying tradition and in doing so, exiled. However, this does not stop her from continuing to empower women. For when others thought her lifeless, she breathes life to others who are willing to go beyond form and succeeds to live.

My fascination with patterns led me to create Amatullah, a collection inspired by Islamic geometric patterns. To date it’s my most loved collection. Making the collection served as my initiation to bead embellishment and its possibilities.

The challenge in creating this collection was translating the patterns into costume jewelry, using mainly seed beads and making it come alive with the play of colors; and how the design would embody the woman I envisioned being Amatullah. - PJV
