Successful Stories with AMS Daily

Our good friend Alpha Sanford, creator of AMSDaily, a blog that evolved from a 30-day motivational conversation with her siblings, is a Filipina living in Massachusetts with her family. Founded in 2011, AMSDaily shares stories of extraordinary people from different backgrounds.  One of AMSDaily’s visions is to tell stories of remarkable Filipinas whose mission in life is to serve others and to live better. These individuals are inspirational success stories in their own rite, while proving their value to the community through working hard with passion, goals, and vision.

These stories are anecdotal tips on personal development. With the momentum resulting from a surge for women empowerment in the United States, she decided to take stories from her motherland, the Philippines, to show the world the understated efforts of Filipina women to inspire and encourage more of their own, like many of their counterparts from developed societies, to take control their own futures as a step towards becoming a truly progressive and nurturing society.

Off to Santa Barbara, California with The Velvet Dress

The Internet has played a great part for me to able to reach out and collaborate with individuals who share passion in fashion and art. I am lucky to meet Danielle Gold of The Velvet Dress, based in Santa Barbara, California. Unlike any other bloggers, I think Danielle's style is very unique that you can find artistry in her fashion styling documented in her blog. We also share the love for thrifty clothes! " I have been an active thrifter for years and managed to utilize different styles and incorporate them into personal fashion statements. Sister Dragonfly Gallery in Louisville, Kentucky

Some of our handmade pieces have made it to Louisville, Kentucky (USA) thanks to the eclectic Sister Dragonfly Gallery. Located on 2021 Frankfort Avenue, their store carries a variety of women’s clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories (to which we have proudly contributed some!). They also have Mexican, African and local Kentucky folk art for those who are looking for a something to decorate with.  Their selections are curated with the utmost taste, with items not available anywhere else in the state.

Recently they held a trunkshow for artists based in New York who recycled semi-precious stones in making her rings, necklaces, and pendants. They also exhibited an artist whose medium is wire and leather wrapping with rarified stones mined from Thailand, China, and Peru.

So if you’re looking for something to wear, give as a gift, or ornaments, be sure to drop by their store. Look for great bargains when they run some of their discount promos as a way of giving back to their loyal customers. They are also generous when it comes to supporting meaningful causes. From time-to-time, they will be donating a percentage of their sales to non-profit organizations such as the Kentucky Humane Society. Pink. Pink, in its entire monochromatic splendor, has been the leading hue for the last few seasons. This eye-catching tone can be paired with almost anything. For this summer, the trend has been to go in solid pink, or to pair it with something white. Pink is generally viewed as a polarizing color, because of stereotypes and expectations that comes with it. With the correct wardrobe and accessories however, pink has been used to power-dress, and subversively turns misconceptions into an image of strength and confidence.

Yellow. Is it possible to leave out yellow, one of the brightest and evocative colors that comes to mind when talking of summer? Apparently, fashion designers cannot. Carrying over from Spring 2015, yellow can be quite tricky to pull of, as matching the right shade of yellow is all about matching with your skin tone. If you think that yellow just isn’t your color but you’re itching to wear it anyway, use it to highlight a neutral color, such as black; or match it with a more delicate tone, such as blue. 

Green. Mostly viewed as a color that’s most suited for Christmas or tie-dyed hippie apparel, green strength becomes apparent when it’s used in muted tones. Match it with a floral ensemble or use it as spots and stripes and the color really comes to its own. At the start of the year, stylists and fashion designers have been trumpeting the virtues of green as being a color “that has no season”, so investing in a wardrobe that features multiple shades of green can really be beneficial somewhere down the road.
