Mother’s Day has been celebrated since the time of ancient
Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honor of ancient goddesses. The
earliest known celebration in modern time however, can be attributed to the
Christian festival known as “Mothering Sunday”, which traditionally fell on the
fourth Sunday of Lent. The holiday came to change in the 20th
century, and through the passage of time, it shed its religious roots and become
a worldwide secular holiday.
Most countries around the
world celebrate Mother’s Day, the dates, traditions, and stories of Mother’sDay vary from place to place, but traditionally, we usually present a gift to
mothers, (and women) to show our appreciation. Keep in
mind that Mothers Day is a time to celebrate the joys
of having a mother. Reflect on her hopes and dreams, and plan out your gifts based on what she wants. You need not give the most expensive and luxurious
present, but something unique, original, and heartfelt will surely be
appreciated.
