Tips into Practice

We dedicated write-ups on the basics of wearing earrings with a follow up post on what type of earrings suit your face shape. We collected some basic outfits to show you how you can you use earrings to pump up your get up.

1) Diamond Face Shape: Wear earrings that will soften the pointed structure of your chin. Stay away from angular shaped earrings and steer towards earrings with soft curves. Choose clothing with round necks, and as much as possible, stay away from v-neck shaped necklines.

2) Long or Oblong Face Shape: Stud and hoop earrings are the most recommendable type to wear for long faced shapes. You can still wear dangling earrings as long as the design gives volume to your face rather than elongating it. Remember that the neckline of your top or dress can highlight or balance your facial structure.

3) Round Shaped Face: The best choice for you  is to wear long and angular earrings that will give a dramatic contrast to the roundness of your face. Choose outfits with necklines that will balance the shape of your face such as V-necks.

4) Square Shaped Face: This kind of face shape is mostly associated to masculinity, thus it is imperative that you wear earrings to soften your facial angles, most especially the jawline. Choose earrings with soft curves and keep clothes with round necklines.

5) Oval Shaped Face: You are in luck. Take advantage of having this face shape, and experiment with different types of earrings. Any type of neckline will suit you.

Basics of Wearing Earrings based on Face Shape

We dedicate this post to the basics of wearing earrings based on the shape of your face. A pair of earrings is a woman’s secret weapon. It draws attention to your face, thus picking a pair that complements your facial structure makes all the difference between a fashion victim and a fashion star.

Face shapes are generally categorized into oval, oblong, square, round  and heart shaped faces. Listed below are guidelines to be kept in mind when purchasing a pair of earrings

1. Oval-shaped faces are said to be the most balanced among the all the mentioned face shapes. To determine if you are one, your face should be relatively longer than it is wider; your cheekbones are noticeably wider than the rest of your face. Having an oval shaped face gives you the freedom to experiment with a wide range of earrings, from simple studs, hoops, and elaborate statement pieces.

2. You are oblong-shaped when your face is long and narrow by at least one and a half of your face’s width. It’s best to wear earrings that give an illusion of volume to better balance the vertical orientation of your face. Favor hoop earrings, round earrings, and three-dimensional studs.  You may also wear dangling earrings as long as the design structure is not too linear. When it comes to teardrop-shaped, dangling earrings, make sure that the bottom part is rounded.

3. A square face is characterized by strong jawlines, wherein your face’s width is almost equal to the width of your forehead. Round, hoops, elongated and long earrings work well to soften the strong lines of your face. Refrain from buying earrings with sharp edges, as this would sharpen the square and angular quality of your face.

4. Round and full faces have soft angles, and angular earrings give a dramatic contrast to the your face’s curves. Long narrow drops are the best choice for you. Avoid chunky statement earrings since these will increase the focus too much on the roundness of your face. Wear chandelier and multi-tiered earrings made of diamond-shaped beads, but keep its length strictly at chin level.

5. Do you have a wide forehead and narrow chin? Then you have a heart-shaped face. Choose earrings that have soft curves.  Dangling earring are also preferable, make sure that its bottom design flares. Earrings with pointy details, especially at the end, can be unflattering. The trick is to wear earrings that draw attention away from your facial angles.

Basics of Wearing Earrings

From the time human civilization thought of wearing jewelries as a way to enhance appearance, connote wealth and status, or simply to make oneself feel beautiful; earrings are a quintessential part of a woman’s jewelry collection. Earrings can be simple enough to be worn on a daily basis, or be an ornate piece to complete your wardrobe on a special occasion. How you choose your earrings are based on several factors which range from the clothes that you intend to match your earrings with, the occasion it’s intended for, and most importantly the size and shape of your face. Here are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to choosing what sort of earrings to wear.
Firstly, determine what sort of occasion you plan to wear the earrings for. This should be able to narrow down your selection. Is it a somber occasion, a formal affair, or an important business meeting? For such occasions, it may be best to choose earrings that are not too inconspicuous. Simple earrings such as studs or metal and stone studded earrings might be the choice for you. Boisterous occasions such as parties and social gatherings give leeway for more fashion statement-type of earrings. Bring out long or large earrings when it comes to these types of events.
The shape of your face, hairstyle, and even your overall build are also important issues to consider when it comes to picking the perfect earrings to wear. Depending on what earrings you choose, these aspects determine whether your appearance is complemented or spoiled.   For example, if you have a long face it best to wear chandelier earrings, while oval faces suit almost any type of earrings. Rectangular shaped faces should wear hoop or round earrings to balance out the angles of your face. We will delve deeper into more details in our next post focusing on earrings and face shape.
Another thing to consider is your complexion. The purpose of wearing accessories in general is to highlight your features and skin color is no exception. Remember that when choosing a pair of earrings which includes structure and color, it should complement your complexion as well.
