Amur Statement Necklace

Last year I made the wildlife collection inspired by rare and endangered animal species. Included in my list was a statement necklace in honor of the Siberian Tiger, but regrettably I was never able to design one. I entered “Amur Statement Necklace” in CrowdJewel's online competition. I used my core technique of embellishment, wherein seed beads and cut beads are hand-stitched on black felt cloth, to mimic the iconic black and orange stripes of the magnificent animal. I draped chains around the embellishment to represent the white fur that can be found on parts of the tiger’s head and underbelly. I linked seed bead and tassels to the chains in an alternating orange and black pattern to give the necklace a contemporary look. I called this necklace Amur, which is another name used to refer to the Siberian Tiger.- PJV
