How To Use A Brooch In Seven Ways

Hey girl! Fancy wearing a brooch?

Very rarely I see a Filipina wearing a brooch. This could be because only few recognize the purpose of these cute ornaments. It's amusing how these little embellishments have been around for quite a long time but they're a little less popular than any other accessories.

But don't worry fellow ladies, I've laid out some facts to help you out!

A brooch is an accessory originally used to hold clothes together. It has dated as far back as the Paleolithic age when thorns and flints were used as its earliest materials. By the time when great civilizations arose, it evolved to bronze and metal with varying forms like safety-pin type to different shapes like round and discoidal. Later on, gems and various stones were added to its beauty.

From being a dress fastener, brooches were later used as ornaments to clothes and its sizes grew bigger and more embellished. Today, modern brooches are used to design collars, belts, bags, ribbons, scarves, and bandanas. If designed fashionably. brooches can give class and elegance to any outfit.

Still curious? Let Palamuti by PJ Valenciano show you... the seven ways to wear a brooch:

1.) Wear it as a hat ornament. If you think your hat looks too plain or dull, make it more interesting by pinning a brooch that compliments its style. Often times, stylists stick it up to the side of the hat to make it more fashionable.

2.) Wear it with your scarf. Secure your lovely scarves with any adorable pin brooch. Not only that it won't let the scarves loosen up, it will also add highlight to your ensemble.

3.) Wear it on your belt. Belts made from soft materials can be decorated more by clipping brooches in the center or on one side (like if you're using a sash belt). This adds personality to your style and makes your fashion unique and creative.

4.) Wear it on your purse or bag. Make your purse and bag stand out by adding a brooch on it. Both casual and formal bags can be glammed up with brooches so it's certainly a very useful piece to keep.

5.) Wear it as a headband or a bandana piece. Breathe new life into your usual headband or bandana by attaching a brooch into it. Another unusual way of sporting a brooch but a surefire way to bring out personality.

6.) Wear it on your clothes. The most popular way of using a brooch is to pin it on your collar, the lapel of your sweater, on the chest part of your dress, or even on the center-most point of your v-neck top. This is a common way to add sparkle to your wardrobe and is a tried-and-tested trick.

7.) Wear it as a pendant to your necklaces. Lastly, brooches as pendants are really cool. At any instance that you feel using a different piece to hang on your necklace, a brooch can come very handy.

See how many ways you can make use of brooches? What makes it cool is that it is not permanent and the style is greatly interchangeable. If you're creative, you can find more ways to utilize its worth. So get up now and start pinning, ladies!
