Power Dressing with a Scarf

If you're the type who's not fond of wearing fine or costume jewelry, yet still a person looking for ways to tweak your office look, you may want to consider wearing a scarf to upgrade your office wardrobe. A simple scarf can achieve a "dress to impress" look, and you can definitely incorporate your personality by choosing the right scarf design.  It doesn't have to be winter or cold outside to wear a scarf. Since there a lot of designs based on material, usage and functionality, scarves can be worn several ways besides the classical drape. So if you're bored wearing scarves the traditional way, you can experiment with bunny ears, waterfalls, and other ways of wearing a scarf.

Spring Wedding

Spring reminds us of renewal and new life. It's the time of year when we bid goodbye to winter and we begin usher in a time of growth. It is also a great season to tie the knot with your significant other, and to pledge your undying love by getting married.

Start your Spring wedding plans now, so that everything will be perfect, in time for next year. Take inspiration from the awakening of the earth; here are some tips on how you can pull off a Spring themed wedding by accessorizing.

1. Choose your motif by taking your inspiration from nature. Nature is the best reference for color palettes to use on your Spring Wedding. If you are having a hard time getting inspiration from nature, refer to Pantone for a simplified version of suggested Spring Colors.

2. Incorporate flowers in your accessories in the form of headpiece, bracelet or necklace. You can also let your female entourage wear flower wreaths made of fresh flowers. Another option is to use fabric-lace, or homegrown material flowers, then provide matching buttonaires for the groom's men.

3. Decorate your wedding effects; such as your unity candle and match, wedding cord, coin purse, ring pillows, and get them  in line for a Spring Concept.

4. Choose a veil with flower laces. An even better way to make your gear standout from the typical all white veil is to ask your designer to add beads to your veil based on your Spring motif.

5. Another practical way to execute your theme is through your shoes and bags. Purchase a pair of shoes and bag which you can use even after your wedding. Opt to deviate from the streamlined traditional white shoes.

Tips into Practice

We dedicated write-ups on the basics of wearing earrings with a follow up post on what type of earrings suit your face shape. We collected some basic outfits to show you how you can you use earrings to pump up your get up.

1) Diamond Face Shape: Wear earrings that will soften the pointed structure of your chin. Stay away from angular shaped earrings and steer towards earrings with soft curves. Choose clothing with round necks, and as much as possible, stay away from v-neck shaped necklines.

2) Long or Oblong Face Shape: Stud and hoop earrings are the most recommendable type to wear for long faced shapes. You can still wear dangling earrings as long as the design gives volume to your face rather than elongating it. Remember that the neckline of your top or dress can highlight or balance your facial structure.

3) Round Shaped Face: The best choice for you  is to wear long and angular earrings that will give a dramatic contrast to the roundness of your face. Choose outfits with necklines that will balance the shape of your face such as V-necks.

4) Square Shaped Face: This kind of face shape is mostly associated to masculinity, thus it is imperative that you wear earrings to soften your facial angles, most especially the jawline. Choose earrings with soft curves and keep clothes with round necklines.

5) Oval Shaped Face: You are in luck. Take advantage of having this face shape, and experiment with different types of earrings. Any type of neckline will suit you.

Preparing for the Big Day

The engagement marks the beginning of months long of preparation for your big day.Initially, you are jumping for joy feeling elated and on top of the world. But mind you, there's a long list of things that need to be done prior to your wedding. Without a doubt after the excitement subsides you'll be asking yourselves, "Where do we start?".

Here are some simple tips to get you onset.

1. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT
Sit down and discuss among yourselves what you want for your wedding. Keep in mind that your wedding is about the two of you being united as husband and wife. To start the ball rolling, brainstorm and list everything down. If your husband-to-be finds it difficult to enumerate his own expectations for your wedding, here's a practical tip from Bridal Book PH: list down what you don't want; the elimination process should filter your ideas down to the most ideal and feasible option.

2.  SET YOUR BUDGET
It may be your big day, but that doesn't give you an excuse to splurge away your savings. Be practical.  Determine the amount that you can afford, and set a realistic budget and be sure to set aside a contingency fund. After all, you don't want to go bankrupt after the wedding day do you?

Here's another tip in ascertaining your budget:
"Assign certain parts of the budget to specific wedding categories (ceremony, reception, bride & groom's wardrobe, rings, etc.). Agree on which part of the wedding is more important to both of you. This will greatly help to determine what part of the budget to allot where. For example, if you believe that the marriage ceremony is more important than the celebration (the Philippines ascribes greater importance on the church wedding rites than the after-party), allot a bigger amount of the budget for the church expenses (decors, music, rings) and opt for a simpler reception." 3. MAKE A CHECKLIST
The long list of what do do prior to your wedding can be alarming and at times certain items might get overlooked as the big day approaches. Avoid unnecessary stress and the risk of  forgetting something important by making a checklist and setting a time table for each task and item. This will serve as your guide in eliminating  last minute miscues and major disasters on your big day. If you are hiring a wedding planner, it is recommended that you have your own "wedding countdown sheet" to monitor the progress of your wedding plans.

4. CHOOSE YOUR THEME
A theme will set the tone and mood of your wedding. Knowing your theme can help you narrow down the correct choices, especially when it comes to choosing suppliers. Another tip from Bridal Book PH, create a mood board in which you can show your suppliers, to better convene exactly what you are expecting from them.

5. CANVASS FOR SUPPLIERS
Take your time in looking for suppliers. Attend bridal fairs if possible, as these events are a hotbed for wedding suppliers. Suppliers present at these events range from; photographers, venue, make-up, etc. Do not just compare prices, compare the quality as well. Dedicate an ample amount of time to choose the correct supplier that can cater to your needs. Do your research, but don't forget to have fun in the process!
